(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 28 - On the final day to elect a new president of the Republic of Kosovo, before Parliament is inexorably dissolved—as required by a Constitutional Court ruling—crossed vetoes remain in effect. The meeting was supposed to start this morning, but Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu, who also serves as interim president after Vjosa Osmani's term expired earlier this month, postponed it until 2:00 PM, citing a desire to give the opposition time to participate. However, MPs from the opposition parties (PDK, LDK, and AAK) deserted the chamber once more, effectively blocking last night's session in which Prime Minister Albin Kurti's Self-Determination Movement (LVV) proposed two new presidential candidates: Feride Rushiti and Hatixhe Hoxha. Despite the lack of a quorum, the vote was conducted, with Feride Rushiti receiving 63 votes in the first round and Hoxha receiving none. One vote has been declared null. (ANSA).
