
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 27 - Kosovo is on the verge of holding new early parliamentary elections, the third in about a year and half. Prime Minister Albin Kurti's ruling party, the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV), and the two main opposition parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), continue to have profound differences over the next president to be elected by Parliament. Despite Kurti's latest offer last Saturday for a deal that would spare the country from new elections, which are inevitable if a new president is not elected by the constitutional deadline of The LVV has given the PDK and LDK until Sunday to jointly present three candidates for Kosovo's presidency. The ruling party announced on Facebook that it will withdraw its two candidates, Glauk Konjufca and Fatmire Mulhaxha-Kollçaku, from the race if the two opposition parties provide the three names requested.
