Former PM Gruevski will go to prison if Budapest extradites him: PM Mickovski

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 14 - If former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski is extradited from Hungary and returns to North Macedonia, he will face prison. Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickovski issued the statement yesterday, after Budapest's prime minister-in-waiting, Péter Magyar, declared that Hungary should no longer be a haven for "convicted criminals." Magyar specifically mentioned former Macedonian Prime Minister Gruevski, who was recently convicted in his country for a variety of crimes including corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering, and has served more than 20 years in prison. He fled to Viktor Orbán's Hungary in 2018, before his first conviction, where he had previously been granted political asylum. (ANSA).
