Italy and Serbia sign an agricultural cooperation memorandum at Vinitaly

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 13 APR - Serbian and Italian agriculture ministers signed a memorandum at Vinitaly in Verona to strengthen agricultural cooperation across 22 sectors, including the exchange of experience and joint participation in fairs, Tanjug reported. "Italy is Serbia's third-largest foreign trade partner after Germany and China," Glamočić said, adding that it is also Serbia's second most important export market. He noted that in January and February of 2026, "we managed to increase our exports to Italy by more than 70% compared with the same period in the previous year." "The memorandum entails improving that cooperation and expanding collaboration in the agricultural sector," Lollobrigida told Tanjug. At Vinitaly, Glamočić also underlined that Serbia's wine sector represents a "dynamic combination of tradition and innovation, with about 17,500 hectares of vineyards, more than 500 registered wineries, and annual production of more than 22 million liters of wine." "Serbia is building a modern wine landscape rooted in its heritage. The return of native grape varieties such as Prokupac, Tamjanika, and Grašac is especially significant, as is the growing popularity of wine tourism," the Serbian minister said. (ANSA).
