The majority of Hungarians remain pro-EU, but number of undecided increasing: survey

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 9 - The majority of Hungarians continue to support the European Union, albeit with decreasing enthusiasm. Doubts are growing—not only about membership, but also about possible entry into the eurozone—and the number of people who don't know where they stand is growing. This is according to research conducted by Centre 21 for the news outlet 24.hu. In a hypothetical referendum, 62% of Hungarians would vote to remain in the EU, with 16% voting to leave. The most notable figure is the 17% undecided rate, which is increasing and reflects a more uncertain public opinion than a year and a half ago. In 2024, the pro-European front stood at 65%, with the undecided remaining at 10%. "The pressure against Brussels appears to have had an effect on the population," 24.hu notes, "with less explicit rejection but more widespread scepticism towards the EU." (ANSA).
