Eurostat reports 13% increase in repatriations to third countries from the EU

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 31 - According to the most recent Eurostat data, the number of people repatriated from the European Union to third countries increased by 13% between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the same period in 2024. However, in the final three months of 2025, the number of non-EU citizens who received an expulsion order from the EU fell by 6.1% when compared to the same period the previous year. The total number of non-EU citizens facing expulsion from one of the 27 EU countries is 117,545, with 33,860 being repatriated to third countries. France was the EU member state with the most non-EU citizens ordered to leave the country (34,040), followed by Spain (12,380) and Germany (10,720). Italy was in fifth place, with just over 5,000 expulsion orders and about 1,000 repatriations. Germany (7,690 people) had the most repatriations to third countries, followed by France (3,800) and Sweden (2,870). (ANSA).
