(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 25 - Germany intends to strengthen its economic and diplomatic ties with China, and both countries have significant growth potential, according to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who made the remarks during a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Beijing. "I attach great importance to maintaining and deepening these relations wherever possible," he said at the start of his visit to China, emphasising the need for close cooperation with Beijing on the European level. "We share global responsibility and must work together to fulfil it." According to Merz, both economies have "significant potential for further growth." To accomplish this, "open lines of communication" are required. The Chancellor has scheduled visits by the relevant ministers in the coming months. (ANSA).
