Tram accident in Sarajevo sparks protests

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 16 - The tragic tram derailment in downtown Sarajevo last Thursday, which killed a young artist and necessitated the amputation of a 17-year-old girl's leg, sparked outrage and a small political earthquake that is worsening by the day, with young people and students taking to the streets every day to protest poor transport safety management. The cantonal prime minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital has already resigned in the wake of the incident. For the fourth day in a row, Sarajevo's youth gathered this morning at the intersection in front of the National Museum, where a derailed tram collided with those waiting under the bus shelter. Erdoan Morankić of Brčko died in the accident, while Ella Jovanović, a minor, suffered serious injuries. (ANSA).
