(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JAN 16 - After years of negotiations, the Global Ocean Treaty, a United Nations international agreement aimed at protecting the high seas, or ocean areas that do not belong to any state (roughly 60% of the world's oceans), will go into effect tomorrow, January 17. Greenpeace recalls this in a statement, noting that "to date, 81 countries have ratified it, including France, China, Cuba, and Greece, but Italy is not one of them," and thus calls on the government to join.
