EU approves renewal of economic sanctions against Russia

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 22 - The EU Council has approved a six-month renewal of economic sanctions against Russia. The measures are set to expire on July 31, 2026. The package contains a wide range of sectoral economic restrictions. It also prohibits the import or transfer of seaborne oil and certain petroleum products from Russia to the EU, excludes several Russian banks from the Swift system, and suspends broadcasting activities and licences in the EU for several Kremlin-backed disinformation outlets.
