The SUSTOURISMO project is funded under the Interreg Adrion Programme. It aims at preserving the environment and at highlighting the natural and cultural heritage elements within the Adriatic Ionian region through the reduction of environmental pollutants caused by the increasing use of private vehicles of tourists travelling around the Adriatic countries.
The Central European Initiative – Executive Secretariat is coordinating communication activities with the aim to inform and raise awareness on project achievements for the wider audience through a targeted Dissemination Strategy. The CEI-ES is also testing a pilot initiative in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region to promote the use of sustainable means of transport to visit the cultural destination of Aquileia and its archeological site.
An App will be developed to support tourists in exploring the area by using sustainable means of transport and winning special rewards for their sustainable trips. Local touristic packages will be implemented in each pilot country to test initiatives involving tourists in green and sustainable mobility and tourism.
