The CEI-Executive Secretariat outlined the progress of the two subcases A and B it had been assigned to. Regarding sub-case A on improving multimodal connections between maritime seasonal lines and public transport in Trieste, the CEI announced that maritime services had been confirmed for the period 2019-2021, paving the way to the identification and implementation of specific measures to improve intermodality with local public transport. Regarding sub-case B focusing on understanding the potential of a maritime connection between Muggia and Koper, a strong interest and engagement of local Municipalities from Trieste, Muggia and Koper has been registered with a will to focus on a maritime connection between Muggia and Koper beyond the touristic season.

Additionally, the main takeaways of the second roundtable (May 2019) were highlighted, in particular, the strong engagement all the stakeholders to promote measures improving accessibility and intermodality from/to maritime lines and information provided to passengers.

Furthermore, the meeting focused on several specific technical aspects of the Inter-Connect project, in particular: the demand and supply analysis of the current situation in the Adrion region, the surveys prepared to analyse the users’ need and expert’s opinion and the development of future scenarios for ADRION’s connectivity which were presented by the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). The CERTH also presented the final deliverables regarding activities targeting the case examination towards better interconnection of the Adrion region.
