Macedonian CEI Presidency: 1st Diplomatic Forum in Skopje

Young diplomats from 12 CEI Member States (Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine) participated in the 1st Diplomatic Forum on "Macro and Micro Strategies for Development: Strengthening the diplomatic capacities of CEI region”, in Skopje on 11-13 November 2015. The event was organised in the framework of the Macedonian CEI Presidency 2015, in cooperation with the CEI Secretariat and under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov.
 
The three-day event addressed a number of key topics, including EU enlargement and European standards, regional connectivity, sustainable energy, trade and cooperation in the global market, competences and skills needed to promote multinational business and SMEs in the global economy, the role of brands especially in economic development.
 
In his address to the Forum participants, CEI Deputy Secretary General, Eric Csernovitz, stressed the CEI’s commitment to continue supporting similar regional projects. In particular, he pointed out that the CEI mission ever more focused on regional cooperation for European integration and on acting as a bridge between macro-regions. The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, also officially addressed the Forum participants.
 
Young diplomats from the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Macedonia and members of the School for Young Leaders founded by Macedonian President Ivanov, as well as representatives from other government institutions of the Republic of Macedonia also took part in the event. All participants were awarded with certificates of completion.
 
The focus of the Macedonian CEI Presidency 2015 is on continuing the setup, improvement and promotion of the strategic CEI objectives, such as supporting its Member States on their way to European integration, Promoting the alignment of CEI Member States to EU standards and implementing small and medium-sized projects.
