CEI mourns passing of Ambassador Fabio Pigliapoco

The CEI – Executive Secretariat expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Ambassador Fabio Pigliapoco, who served the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII) both as former Secretary General of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and later as Head of its Permanent Secretariat. A distinguished figure of the highest institutional and human standing in the field of Adriatic–Ionian regional cooperation, he made a decisive contribution to strengthening political and institutional dialogue among the countries of the region, promoting a vision based on stability, cooperation and European integration.

A close collaborator and firm believer in the CEI, Fabio Pigliapoco strongly supported the Organisation’s mission and the value of regional cooperation as a tool for dialogue, mutual understanding and shared progress. His vision, constant commitment and openness to dialogue represented a valuable point of reference for regional institutions.

His passing leaves a profound void among all those who had the privilege of working with him and appreciating his competence, integrity and genuine dedication to international cooperation. The Executive Secretariat of the CEI extends its sincere condolences to his family, colleagues and all those who shared his professional and human journey.
