Thanks to the CEI’s recent achievement of the Observer status within the Council of Europe’s intergovernmental committees on youth, namely the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) and Joint Council on Youth (CMJ), for the first time the CEI participated in the meetings of the aforementioned CoE youth statutory bodies. The committees meet twice a year, in Strasbourg and Budapest respectively, and address a whole range of issues relevant for the youth sector. The meetings provided for an in-depth discussion of a number of topical issues, such as the organisation of the European Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth, coming up in October 2025 in Malta, development of a reference framework for integration of a Youth Perspective, revision of the Charter for Young People’s Participation in Local and Regional Life, conclusions of the 4th European Youth Work Convention organised by the CoE and the EU, etc. The meetings also provided a structured overview and a detailed update on the most relevant activities and processes that took place during the past six months, both within the CoE Youth sector itself and within its 48 Member States and Observers, including the CEI.
