On 27 November in Udine the CEI- Executive Secretariat took part in the “ResiliEnhance Platform 2024 Meeting” gathering experts and stakeholders from Central and Eastern Europe at the International Centre for Mechanical Sciences (CISM) in Udine. The event marked a key milestone in the ResiliEnhance Programme was organised by the CEI, the UNESCO Chair at the University of Udine, and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, with support also from CISM.
Zsuzsanna Kiraly, CEI Deputy Secretary General, highlighted the importance of the ResiliEnhance initiative, especially in strengthening the UNESCO Chairs Network across CEI countries. This platform embodies our shared commitment to fostering resilience at a time of increasing complexity and unpredictability, Kiraly stated. And since the event addressed the growing frequency of natural disasters and the need for a new approach to resilience, Kiraly noted that these challenges emphasise the importance of analysing resilience not merely to respond to current crises but to anticipate and prepare for future needs, calling for transformative systems that address vulnerabilities at their root.
Participants discussed the role of governance in disaster risk reduction, stressing the importance of flexible and responsive systems. Kiraly praised UNESCO Chairs as hubs for innovation and knowledge exchange, and underlined the programme’s focus on fostering transnational partnerships to tackle regional challenges.
The ResiliEnhance Platform remains a driving force for innovation and collaboration, strengthening resilience across the CEI region.
