Latest polls in Serbia indicate an uncertain outcome for Students and Vučić

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 22 OTT - Serbia's snap parliamentary elections on Sunday are expected to be a close race between the "Aleksandar Vučić-United Serbia" list led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the newcomer, the "Student List - Students Win!" despite conflicting polls. (Studentska Lista - Studenti pobeđuju!). In any scenario, neither of these major political forces appears capable of securing an absolute majority of votes—and, consequently, seats—in parliament. Meanwhile, all polls show a clear trend of rising voter turnout, with figures expected to exceed 60%. Such a figure has not been seen in at least two decades, and many analysts believe it reflects the student movement's ability to mobilise. The uncertainty surrounding the potential winner stems in part from the disparities in results predicted by various polling organisations. Faktor Plus, a government-affiliated institute, assigns 48.6% to Vučić's coalition and 37.1% to the Student List, recognising the latter's growth. NSPM, an independent, conservative-leaning organisation, reported in late September that the Student List was 44.4%, compared to 41.7% for "United Serbia." According to a recent survey by CRTA, an NGO that promotes democratic transparency and conducts public opinion polls, the Student List has 44.9% support, while Vučić's "United Serbia" has 35.7%. Another independent institute, Birodi, shows the 'Students' list leading 'United Serbia' by nearly 10%, polling at 48.5% (with a margin of 45.9% to 51.1%), compared to 38.6% for United Serbia (with an estimated range of 36.3% to 40.9%). According to PolitPro, a European portal that calculates weighted averages of existing data, the most recent estimate places Vučić about 2.6 points ahead of the 'Students' list. The incumbent majority is projected to have 135 out of 250 seats. (ANSA).
