Karpacz Economic Forum, a focus on the new global order

(ANSA) - KARPACZ, 12 LUG - Over 6,000 people are expected to attend the 35th edition of the Karpacz Economic Forum (Poland) - known as the 'Davos of the East' - the most important conference in Central and Eastern Europe, scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 September. The theme of this year's event - organised by the Institute of Oriental Studies Foundation, in collaboration with the Office of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship - is 'The Architecture of the New Order - Stability in Times of Change'. According to the institute's director, Zygmunt Berdychowski, "in the face of rising geopolitical tensions - such as the war in Ukraine and the conflicts in the Middle East - — such as the war in Ukraine and conflicts in the Middle East—states and international organizations are seeking new mechanisms to ensure security and stability. Structures of cooperation and security, suchas NATO and the European Union, are playing an increasingly important role by strengthening political, economic, and military coordination". For Berdychowski, the conclusion is that "stability in times of change therefore requires flexible institutions, the ability to engage in dialogue, and a capacity for collective responses to global crises". For over 30 years, the Economic Forum has been hosting leaders from the worlds of politics, business and academia, as well as representatives from non-governmental organisations and the cultural sector. The conference programme comprises over 500 events, including several plenary sessions and hundreds of round-table discussions, dozens of meetings with authors and special events, workshops and numerous press conferences. The events will be organised around the following themes: Artificial Intelligence Forum, Cybersecurity Forum, Healthcare Forum, Regions Forum, Economy, International Politics and Security, Society, and Sustainable Development. In keeping with tradition, the 2026 edition of the Forum will begin with the presentation of the Report on the State of the Economy in Poland and the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe, a scientific study prepared by the organising body in collaboration with the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH). The report describes current trends and socio-economic phenomena, enabling leaders from various sectors of the economy and politics to make key decisions. The most prestigious moments of the Economic Forum are the gala events, during which awards are presented in the following categories: Person of the Year, Company of the Year and Non-Governmental Organisation of the Year.
