(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 18 - The CEI Cultural Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Dimension recently convened in Poland to discuss post-industrial regeneration experiences. Former industrial sites have been transformed into community spaces, cultural centres, and gathering places, restoring value to abandoned areas and creating new opportunities for local communities and future generations. The summit was held in Katowice, at the Silesian Museum, a historic mining region in Poland that is now one of Europe's most important examples of post-industrial regeneration. During the meeting, CEI Deputy Secretary General Ivana Pejović emphasised the value of interparliamentary cooperation for sharing experiences and best practices, as well as promoting shared approaches among regions facing similar economic, social, and environmental challenges. In addition to institutional meetings, parliamentarians were able to visit several sites that represent Silesia's transformation. Among them are the former Rozbark coal mine in Bytom, which has been converted into a cultural and recreational centre with a theatre and a climbing centre, and the Tarnowskie Góry mining site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
