In Croatia, the longest-serving Italian politician in parliament is retiring

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 18 - Furio Radin, who has represented the Italian national community in the Zagreb Parliament since 1992, is the oldest member of that body and has served the longest in Croatian parliamentary service. He has announced his retirement from politics next week. Radin, who turned 76 a few days ago, chaired the Parliamentary Commission for Human Rights and the Rights of National Minorities and has been Vice President of the Croatian Parliament since 2017. His time in the Sabor (the Croatian parliament) is nearly as long as the history of modern Croatian parliamentarism, which began only two years ago, in the spring of 1990. His departure will also mark the end of a parliamentary era in which, despite often unfavourable circumstances, he promoted moderation, respect for others, and a dialogue-centered approach. (ANSA).
