France aims for a superfighter that Germany doesn't need: Merz

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 18 - German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has openly questioned the Franco-German superfighter project, explaining that the difficulty stems from the requirements, as Germany and France require different aircraft. "We have a serious issue with the requirements profile. And if we can't solve it, we won't be able to proceed with the project," Merz said on the Machtwechsel podcast. "Specifically, in the next generation of fighter aircraft, the French require an aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons and operating from an aircraft carrier. We do not need that in the German army right now." (ANSA).
