Storm halts long-distance trains in northern Germany

(ANSA-AFP) - BERLIN, JAN 9 - Long-distance trains were halted in northern Germany on Friday and services were also affected in other parts of the country as winter storms sweep across Europe, the rail operator said. "Long-distance rail travel in northern Germany is no longer possible," said Deutsche Bahn in a statement, adding that services from Berlin to Hamburg, and to the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia state were also impacted.
