(ANSA) - PORDENONE, DEC 10 - "A survey of Central European poetry of our time, five seasons to compose an extraordinary poetic map in the heart of Europe: poetry, therefore, as a means of reconstructing, through a new network of relationships between poets and scholars, the Central European cultural fabric that was lost after World War II, particularly on the level of the poetic tradition." this, for the artistic director of pordenonelegge, Gian Mario Villalta, is the goal of the new project that pordenonelegge presented in Warsaw, at the headquarters of the Italian Institute of Culture, and which had taken its first steps at the 26th Book and Freedom Festival, last September, in Pordenone, through the launch of an anthology publication dedicated to poetry in the Croatian language, which includes works by authors and authors Irena Skopljak Barić, Maja Klarić, Ivan Herceg, Davor Šalat and Ana Brnardić (Collana Gialla, pordenonelegge/Samuele editore). "We are confident that the result of this project, which envisages five publications over five years, will surprise all readers and poetry enthusiasts, highlighting in an organic way the most relevant voices of contemporary Central European poetry," Villalta further explained. "A project to reflect on the meaning of Europe today, its voices, challenges, and potential: alternating poetic voices to confront the symbolic characteristics of a constantly evolving dialogue, between identities, languages and traditions. It will be articulated on the dual plan of publishing and public meetings, in partnership with the University of Warsaw and the Sinalefe European Poetry Research Group, and also with the Universities of Bergamo and Rome La Sapienza. Milestone will be the 2027 Pordenone Capitale Italiana della Cultura, and a direct thread will be woven with Warsaw, where an Italian poet will be a guest each year over the next five years, while pordenonelegge will commit to hosting a European poet involved in the project for the next five editions. At each edition, a thematic anthology will be prepared and presented at the festival, with 5 poetic voices of a Central European language: to investigate and rediscover the "roots," but also the buds and flowers of the European Poetry tree.
