EU should start working on accession treaty: Montenegro

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 2 - "The European Political Community summit provides an excellent platform for countries that are not yet members of the EU. Montenegro is a frontrunner, and I believe this is an excellent opportunity for my country to send a very clear message: we want to become the 28th EU member state by 2028." Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović stated this during his arrival at the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen. The head of state then stated that he will request EU leaders to "start draughting Montenegro's accession treaty; I believe the time has come to do so." "It would send a signal not only to Montenegro, but to all candidate countries, that the accession process is genuine and that there is light at the end of the tunnel," he emphasised. (ANSA).
