(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 25 MAG - In Kosovo, the stalemate over the election of the president of the new parliament continues. Once again today, for the 21st time, there was a deadlock, as the ruling Vetevendosje (Self-Determination) party's proposal to vote by secret ballot was again rejected in the courtroom. A new attempt is scheduled for May 27. Vetevendosje remains on its candidate for the Assembly presidency, former justice minister Albulena Haxhiu, who has already been rejected six times by failing to obtain the minimum 61 votes needed for election. Premier Albin Kurti, leader of Vetevendosje, continues to reject the opposition's calls for targeting another candidate. The new parliament, elected in a Feb. 9 vote, first met in its constituent session on April 15, and without the election of its president, the formation of a new government cannot proceed. (ANSA).
