Caravan of antique Rolls Royce in Trieste

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 04 GIU - The "Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Registry Alpine Tour," a journey retracing a road itinerary organized in Europe 110 years ago, brought 34 splendid antique Rolls Royce models to Trieste. The caravan-which departed today-stayed for two days and nights in the central Piazza della Borsa, a stop on a long route that started in Vienna and wound its way through Austria, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, returning to the Austrian capital itself. Organized by Classic Travelling, an agency specializing in the field, on behalf of the "Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club Silver Ghost Register," the trip re-enacted a re-enactment of the tour of the time. It is no coincidence that the trip was undertaken this year-Sarah Dowding, owner of the organizing agency, explained that the 110th anniversary of the Alpenfahrt, a "classic" classic car trip, falls in 2023. The original Alpenfahrt lasted "only" eight days and required strong endurance from the drivers and cars. For 2023, however, the trip has been lengthened, to three weeks, turning a kind of competition into an enjoyable journey, also so as not to put a strain on over 100-year-old engines and bodies. The initiative was carried out with stables, specialized agencies, historical clubs and was also designed as a tourist opportunity. As Riccardo Novacco, president of Adrenalinika, which organized the Julian stage, pointed out, the idea was also to showcase the beauty of the region. (ANSA).
