INNOVA.RISKS: know-how transfer from Italy to Moldova

In the framework of the INNOVA.RISKS Project, a Moldovan delegation (know-how recipient) went on a study visit to Italy on 23-26 October.

The programme covered sites such as the operational structure of the National Department of Civil Protection (DPCN) in Rome, the Corbara dam on the Tevere river and its hydroelectric power plant in Baschi (ERG Hydro), the Associated civil protection function in Orvieto and the Regional Civil Protection Center in Foligno.

On the last day the delegation also had the chance to see the "Geotechnical Italian Association" and attend a workshop on geotechnical aspects of rainfall and seismic landslides.

The main objective of the project is to promote the exchange of "best practices" and the use of new technologies in the prevention and protection from natural and environmental risks in the Republic of Moldova, by sharing the experiences of the Italian emergency management and civil protection system. Moldova has an obligation to harmonise its environmental and water management with the EU legislation and to develop River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) involving a large public participation. This tour followed the visit of the Italian delegation to the Republic of Moldova on 28-31 May.

The project INNOVA.RISKS - was implemented by the Civil Protection Department, Umbria Regional Administration (Italy), Municipality of Orvieto (Italy), Alta Scuola (Italy) as know-how providers. It was supported under the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme through the  CEI Fund at the EBRD with 39,988 EUR.
