Useful inputs for business starters and new insights on market trends were the key aspects of the Conference “SMEs – Business development and regional cooperation” held on in Belgrade on 3 March. Organised by the media production company Business Info Group (BIG), the event aimed at increasing SME sector operations, cooperation between decision makers and SME representatives as well as at stimulating export growth.
SME representatives from Serbia and relevant stakeholders from CEI Member States took part in the practice-oriented event, where significant entrepreneurs and managers from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia shared their valuable experiences in two panels and two workshops. In particular, the panel speakers encouraged the participants to start their own business and gave relevant advice for beginners.
High-quality production, teamwork, learning-by-doing and persistence were pointed out as main factors for success regardless of the represented business branches of the speakers, which included recently founded companies for fashion design, clothing and digital technology as well as a more than 100-year-old traditional family company for agricultural production.
Furthermore, the speakers shared important knowledge regarding settings of domestic markets and rules of participation in the world market as well as requirements for support through European funds. In the two workshops, participants were provided with useful insights on economic trends and programmes for the support of entrepreneurs by competent business owners.
The event was marked by active participation and provided an ideal platform for networking and exchange of best practices in the CEI region.
The Conference was supported by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
