Final events of “Diversity is Super-City!” in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia

The final activities of the project “Diversity is Super-City!” were held on 1 October in the form of a regional performance opening the final conference on “Different Cities-Happier Society”.

More than 60 participants from European cultural and public institutions exchanged views on human rights as well as on the inclusion and empowerment of minorities during the event held in Sremski Karlovci, Serbia. The speakers were representatives of the Regional Endeavour for Art, Culture and Health (REACH), the project organiser.

Within the project, young artists from CEI Member States were offered a residential 8-day training, to work on cultural diversity by exploring different languages and cultures, using theatre methodologies, performance and intercultural dialogue.

The final performance “Aleksije the Fool” was inspired by the outcomes of the training and motivated an open interactive dialogue between speakers and guests from Serbia and the region within the following conference. Among other things they discussed regional cultural cooperation as a necessity for further inclusion, theatre as a toll of acceptance and tolerance as well as the impact of arts and theatre on  contemporary society.

The activities are funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
