KEP Italy: performance budgeting training for local authorities held in Ukraine

More than 40 representatives from financial departments in VinnitsaUkraine, have recently attended a training course organised by the Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation Foundation (PAUCI), in partnership with the Vinnitsa Regional Council. Local officials had the chance to acquire knowledge and practical skills in developing indicators of budget programme implementation. The invited Polish experts presented their relevant experience in Krakow, Poland.

Another training was devoted to "Performance (Program) budgeting and public participation in the budget process". 23 public activists had the opportunity to learn about the basic principles of public finance reform in Ukraine and discuss the possibilities NGOs have to influence transparency in the budget process.

The training activities, held in the city of Vinnitsa on 15-16 May 2014, respectively, are part of the project entitled “Performance budgets in Cherkasy and Vinnitsa - support for good governance and financial transparency of local governments in Ukraine”. Co-financed by the Polish Government and the CEI Fund at the EBRD (contributed by Italy) in the framework of the CEI Know-How Exchange Programme (KEP), the CEI support  amounts to 35.371 EUR, out of the total project cost of 231.784 EUR.

This project started in January 2013 and will last until the end of 2014. Its activities include a series of trainings and seminars in Ukraine as well as consultations, study visits to Poland, internships in Krakow, case studies, sub-granting, public debates and final conferences in Cherkasy and Vinnitsa. The project also received co-financing from the EU Delegation in Kyiv.
