In the framework of the regional project SEE Mosaics: developing a network of mosaic conservation professionals and promoting mosaic heritage in SE Europe, the SEE Mosaics Meeting V “Conservation of mosaic bedding layers – how to preserve” is taking place in Zaječar, Serbia on 1-4 October 2019.
The meeting - organised by the Central Institute for Conservation and National Museum “Zaječar”, with the support of the CEI-Executive Secretariat through its Cooperation Fund as well as of Ministry of Culture and Information of Republic of Serbia - will focus on conservation and presentation of mosaic heritage on archaeological sites.
Main themes:
- Past and present solutions for conservation of mosaics on sites
- In situ conservation-restoration techniques and the use of modern technologies and materials
- Presentation challenges of mosaics conserved in situ (site management, monitoring and maintenance strategies).
Conservation professionals from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, France, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Spain and Slovenia will attend the event, which will include paper presentations, a poster exhibition and study tours to archaeological sites such as Felix Romuliana, Mediana and Caričin grad.
