(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, 17 AGO - Macedonian police on Monday intercepted and blocked 80 illegal migrants who were travelling hidden in a lorry that was stopped for inspection on the road between Negorino and Gradsko, in the centre of North Macedonia, regional media said. They said the driver of the lorry initially managed to escape but was quickly captured and arrested and is charged with human trafficking. The migrants were all Pakistani except for one from Eritrea, and all were taken to the temporary reception centre in Gevghelja, at the border with Greece. In recent months, the number of Asian and Middle Eastern migrants has started growing again along the so-called Balkan Route, the same one that over one million refugees used in 2015 as they headed towards Western Europe.
