Clashes broke out in Tirana between police and protesters

(ANSA) - TIRANA, OCT 24 - Violent clashes broke out in Tirana between police and protesters during a day of demonstrations organized separately by student groups and the center-right opposition led by Sali Berisha. The protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. In response to the stone-throwing, police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowd, which had initially gathered in front of the Ministry of Education and shortly thereafter in front of the Government Palace. Police managed to take control of Tirana's main boulevard as the crowd scattered through the streets of the capital's downtown area, leaving behind burning trash cans. (ANSA).
