(ANSA) - TRIESTE, SEP 6 - Media and journalism representatives from the Balkan countries will meet and exchange views in Trieste on two key topics: strategic communication regarding the expansion of the European Union and the fight against disinformation. The event will be the conference "The Balkans Meet in Trieste," on Wednesday, September 9, organized by the ANSA news agency on the occasion of the 34th General Assembly of the Association of Balkan News Agencies Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE), under the patronage of the Central European Initiative (INCE), in the reception hall of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regional Government Building. Following the official remarks by Governor Fedriga, Mayor Dipiazza, and INCE Secretary Franco Dal Mas, Stefano De Alessandri (CEO of ANSA), Kiril Valchev, and Ilija Musa (secretary and president of ABNA, respectively). Albania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, will be interviewed specifically on the topics of enlargement and communication. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion focusing specifically on press freedom, featuring Barbara Trionfi (OSCE), Paula Gori (European Digital Media Observatory, EDMO), Oliver Vujovic (South East Europe Media Organisation, SEEMO), Luisa Chiodi (Osservatorio Balcani, Caucaso Transeuropa), Giancarlo Vanoni, CEO of Tecnavia (software solutions and IT services for the publishing industry), and Davide Bolzoni (ANSA EU funding project manager). The morning will conclude with an interview conducted by Paolo Possamai, director of the Nem Publishing Group, with Alberto Barachini, undersecretary to the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for Publishing and Information. But what role can the Adriatic Sea and scientific research play in this context? This will become clear at the end of the two roundtable discussions scheduled for the afternoon.
