Barcolana's Sup event returns to the Grado Lagoon

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JULY 13 - The Barcolana Grado Sup Experience, a satellite event of Barcolana 58 presented by Generali dedicated to stand-up paddleboarding, will return for a new edition on Saturday, October 3, in Grado. Open to both competitive athletes and enthusiasts, the event will feature two separate courses: an approximately 4-kilometer route for recreational participants and an approximately 7-kilometer course for competitive paddlers. The race, organized by the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano with the support of the Municipality of Grado, Git, the Grado branch of the Italian Naval League, Circolo Canottieri Ausonia, The Wild Sup and Kitelife, will start from the town's Spiaggia Imperiale beach. Participants will paddle along the coastline of the Isola d'Oro before finishing at the Mandracchio harbor. The competitive course through the lagoon will also include a circuit around the Island of Schiusa. The sporting event is part of the program of activities linked to the world's largest sailing regatta, scheduled to take place in Trieste from October 2 to 11. "The Barcolana Grado Sup Experience is one of the events that best represents our vision of Barcolana: an accessible sport, open to everyone, capable of showcasing the local area and building a sense of community," Svbg President Mitja Gialuz said today during the presentation of the event in Grado. "When we launched this project, we set ourselves an ambitious challenge: to build the world's largest Sup event within five years. We are now in the fourth year of that journey, and the numbers show we are moving in the right direction. "After exceeding 200 participants in last year's edition - he added - we want to continue growing while preserving the event's original spirit: an initiative capable of bringing competitive athletes, families, children, and people trying SUP for the first time out onto the water together." Registration is open online at www.barcolana.it and will remain available until 8 p.m. on October 2. (ANSA).
