From Aquileia to Athens, the first European interfaith choir: Polyverse

(ANSA) - UDINE, 10 GIU - Christians, Jews, and Muslims came together at the Synagogue of Athens in the name of music, with a concert by the first European interfaith choir. This concept was the core of the second stage of Polyverse Singing Across Faiths, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe program and led by the Foundation Society for the Preservation of the Basilica of Aquileia, following its launch in Aquileia. The event, organized in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Athens, combined religious dialogue and choral music. Speakers at the conference included the president of the Jewish Community, Albertos Taraboulos; Chief Rabbi Gabriel Negrin; Imam Nader Akkad of the Great Mosque of Rome; Pastor Almuth Wisch of the Evangelical Church of Lehnin; the director of the Basilica of Aquileia, Andrea Bellavite; and Metropolitan Gabriel, representing the Greek Orthodox Church. The speeches focused on interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and the role of culture in mutual understanding. "Different realities in terms of history, culture, and religious tradition are united by the belief that music can become a concrete tool for dialogue," said Sara Zamparo, project coordinator for the Foundation Society for the Preservation of the Basilica of Aquileia. The Polyverse Choir brought together singers from Italy, Greece, and Germany. Italy was represented by the Mittelvox Ensemble of Gorizia, conducted by Mateja Černic. The program included pieces from different religious traditions and Polyverse Echoes, an original composition by Aaron Dan, Maria Beatrice Orlando, and Sakis Negrin. After Aquileia and Athens, the project will continue in July in Lehnin, Germany. (ANSA).
