Germany, AfD welcomes US troop withdrawal

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 5 - The AfD leadership applauds the announced withdrawal of US troops from Germany. Tino Chrupalla, party leader, told journalists in Berlin that the US government's decision must be acknowledged. Chrupalla said that being able to defend itself is crucial for Germany and Europe. "I think we need to work on this now. Otherwise, we can certainly welcome this troop withdrawal." Co-leader Alice Weidel cited the AfD's platform, which states that it does not want "foreign powers within our national borders." "We consider this unnecessary," she said. (ANSA).
