(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 6 - Franco Dal Mas, Secretary General of the Central European Initiative (CEI), delivered a speech in Sarajevo emphasising the importance of developing sustainable mobility in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, with a focus on interregional rail connections. He was in Bosnia's capital to attend the Regional Cooperation Council's (RCC) annual coordination meeting for regional organisations. Among the guests were representatives from the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII), the Organisation of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), and the World Bank. In this context, Dal Mas emphasised that the project to revitalise the Trieste-Ljubljana-Zagreb-Belgrade link is destined to become a key infrastructure axis for the region's economic growth, as well as to position this geographical area within larger global initiatives such as the IMEC. "We see this corridor as the backbone of regional mobility and as a model to be replicated across the entire TEN-T network, in particular on the Western Balkans-Eastern Mediterranean Corridor, and it can help position our geographical area within broader global initiatives, such as IMEC," said Dal Mas.
