
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, NOV 6 - "Today, it is crucial that governments and parliaments combine their proposals, energies, and resources to protect collective interests and address these challenges in a coordinated manner: from personal safety to cybersecurity, to the protection and proper use of data," CEI Secretary General Franco Dal Mas said in his opening remarks at the meeting of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension Parliamentary Assembly in Belgrade, organised by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia "There is no doubt," Dal Mas continued, "that we are facing a critical challenge that must be turned into an advantage for all of us." Representatives from CEI countries' parliaments spoke about artificial intelligence (AI) and urban sustainability, emphasising the importance of an ethical and transparent regulatory framework that ensures the responsible use of technologies for the benefit of citizens and communities. In the meeting's final document, parliamentarians reaffirmed their commitment to promoting the ethical and responsible use of AI as a tool for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. They also emphasised the importance of promoting research, innovation, and public-private partnerships, ensuring transparency and democratic oversight of technological development, and strengthening interparliamentary and international cooperation to establish common ethical standards.
