(ANSA) - BELGRADO, SEP 13 - The next parliamentary elections in Serbia could be held in April, May or December next year, earlier than the natural end of the legislature. President Aleksandar Vucic said. "I would like them to be held in December next year. I would resign a little earlier as president because after almost 10 years I will not be able to run for president. Let's go all together to fair elections in December, until then citizens will be able to see what we will do, what we will accomplish," Vucic said in a speech late last night to the private Informer TV channel. The student protest movement is urgently calling for early elections, accusing Vucic and the entire Serbian leadership of corruption, authoritarianism, poor democracy and control over the media. The last legislative elections were held in Serbia on December 17, 2023, with a wide success of President Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party (46.7 percent of the vote). (ANSA).
