(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 12 - A "just and lasting peace" that promotes stability and security must adhere to international law, including the principles of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of international borders. The path to peace in Ukraine "cannot be determined without Ukraine" and meaningful negotiations can only occur in the context of a cease-fire or a reduction in hostilities. This is what EU leaders said in a joint statement signed overnight by the President of the European Council and all member countries except Hungary. (ANSA).
