
(ANSA) - VARSAVIA, JUL 1 - The Ambassador of Italy to Poland Luca Franchetti Pardo yesterday presented the honor of the Order of the Star of Italy in the rank of Knight to Sister Laura Boschi, responsible for Poland for the Institute of the Ursuline Sisters of Mary the Immaculate Virgin of Gandino. The commitment of Sister Laura , who has been present in Poland since 1995, has taken the form of intense work to support families in difficulty, with particular attention to minors and young mothers. In his speech, the ambassador recalled the awardee's main initiatives, including the founding of the "John Paul II Center" in Legionowo, which includes a nursery, kindergarten, and shelter for women and children in fragile situations. In recalling the recent case of an infant left in the "warm cradle" present in the sisters' facility in Legionowo, Ambassador Franchetti Pardo quoted the well-known Talmud phrase, "He who saves one life, saves the whole world," and expressed gratitude for tireless selflessness, humility and witness to the human and spiritual bond that can unite the Italian and Polish communities. Sister Laura thanking the President of the Italian Republic and the ambassador for the important recognition received, wanted to express her gratitude for the crucial and indispensable daily contribution made by her sisters and all the volunteers.
