EU-Western Balkans consultation in Skopje on growth plan

(ANSA) - SKOPJE, JUL 1 - A meeting between EU and Western Balkan leaders dedicated to the Growth Plan for the region is being held today in Skopje. The meeting, chaired by North Macedonia Premier Hristijan Mickoski and EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, is attended by the heads of government of Montenegro Milojko Spajić, Albania Edi Rama, Kosovo Albin Kurti, Bosnia and Herzegovina Borjana Krišto, and Serbia Djuro Macut. On the agenda are times and ways to accelerate the implementation of this aid program, which is closely linked to the progress of reforms in the six Western Balkan countries aspiring to integrate into the European Union. Put together by the European commission in October 2023, the Growth Plan for the region provides six billion euros in funds to finance reforms and investments in areas such as energy, transport, and digital transformation. Objective to stimulate economic growth and foster the region's progressive rapprochement with the EU and its single market. (ANSA).
