West to say no to a coloured revolution in Serbia: Lavrov

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 30 - Russia hopes that the situation in Serbia will calm down "in accordance with the Constitution" and that the West will not intervene by supporting "a coloured revolution," according to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, as quoted by Russian media, in response to the recent demonstrations and violence in Belgrade. Lavrov was referring to the term "coloured revolution" in relation to what happened in former Soviet republics following the collapse of the USSR, such as Georgia and Ukraine, with the overthrow of governments, in which Moscow saw Western intervention.
