Orbán warns for consequences for participating in Pride

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 27 - In the usual interview with Kossuth Rádió, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that there will be "legal consequences" for those who organise or participate in the Budapest Pride, which will take place tomorrow in the Hungarian capital, despite the authorities' ban. "We are adults," Orbán said. "I recommend that everyone respect the laws; I do, and I would advise them to do the same. If they do not, they must consider the clear legal consequences," he said. "The police could stop such events if they wanted to, because they have the right to do so, but Hungary is a civilised country," the prime minister stated, emphasising that the event "violates the law" and that "the task of the police is not to use physical violence, but to make people respect the law."
