CEI Support to Internationalisation of SMEs: Two Seminars Announced for September in Trieste in Cooperation with EBRD

On 25-26 September, two seminars will be organised in Trieste (Italy) by the Central European Initiative, in cooperation with Confindustria (federation of Italian industry and services companies), the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Seminars aim at presenting the EBRD Public Procurement Policies and Rules in projects financed by the Bank in the public sector and will mainly target Italian contractors, suppliers, consultants and practitioners in procurement, interested in working with the EBRD.

The announcement was made on the occasion of the two-day event focused on the internationalisation of Italian SMEs, organised by Finest (financial company for the promotion of economic cooperation of the Northeast of Italy on the global market) in collaboration with Sace (Italian public financial group active in export credit, credit insurance, investment protection, financial guarantees, and factoring).
The event, held on 21-22 June in Passariano and Pordenone (Italy), gathered 120 enterprises from Northeast Italy. Experts from Italian institutions, specialised agencies, banks as well the EBRD urged Italian enterprises to embrace internationalisation also as a way to cope with the economic crisis in new foreign markets: most recent economic data revealed declining domestic sales but rising export of Italian enterprises in 2011.
Among the speakers, CEI Alternate Secretary General Giorgio Rosso Cicogna underlined strategic partnerships and joint projects promoted by the CEI with the main Italian players to enhance SME internationalisation as well as the twenty-year old partnership with the EBRD, which represents a  relevant asset of the CEI.
