The Steering Committee of the Adria A project (Accessibility and Development for the Re-launch of the Inner Adriatic Area) met for the second time on 25 July on the premises of the Veneto Region in Venice. The event was organised by the Municipality of Venice in collaboration with the Central European Initiative.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss the status of this EU funded project, strengthen the commitment of the institutional partners and approve the technical results achieved so far.
Hon. Antonio Cancian, Member of the European Parliament (Committee of Transport and Tourism) underlined the importance of the project and its cross-border dimension for the Current Ten-T revision process (Mediterranean and Baltic axis). One of the main results is the creation of the first Italian-Slovenia European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation-EGTC that will ensure cooperation in territorial and transport planning even after the conclusion of the project.
Mr. Žerak, high official at Slovenian Ministry of Transport and Mr. Ferrazza his Italian homologue highlighted the relevance of the Adria A project for the future Mediterranean Corridor and its related last mile link investments in the Italian–Slovenian Cross-border area. In particular, Mr. Žerak affirmed that his Ministry would launch the public tender for the development of the passengers railway connection between Koper and Trieste in September.
