On 29 September 2025, H.E. Anila Bitri Lani, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Italy, paid an official visit to the CEI – Executive Secretariat.
The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss cooperation in the framework of the CEI, in particular with regard to European integration.
Secretary General Dal Mas welcomed the visit and congratulated Albania on the important results achieved in this endeavour, highlighting Albania as a successful example of European integration. He stressed that accelerating the EU accession of the candidate countries was vital for stability, prosperity, and credibility of the European project. He also congratulated Albania on its successful CEI presidency in 2024, underlining the country’s active role in advancing regional cooperation and fostering constructive dialogue among Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern European countries.
Ambassador Bitri reaffirmed Albania’s strong commitment toward the EU accession. She thanked the CEI for supporting the countries aspiring EU membership and expressed interest in exploring new opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the Organisation’s activities.
At the end of the visit, Ambassador Bitri signed the CEI Book of Honour, symbolising the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Albania and the CEI.
The visit reaffirmed the CEI’s role as a privileged platform for dialogue and cooperation in Europe.
