On 26 March 2025, the Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Antonio Tajani, paid an official visit to the CEI - Executive Secretariat.
After signing the Book of Honour, he delivered a speech outlining the main strategies of Italy’s foreign policy and the ‘Sistema Italia’. In the course of his broader address, he particularly emphasised Italy’s strong commitment to the CEI and its strategic role in strengthening cooperation among Central-Eastern European and Balkan countries at a crucial moment for regional stability and integration, and in light of current geopolitical challenges and ongoing EU enlargement processes.
In this setting, Min.Tajani particularly stated that:
The CEI plays a strategic role as a bridge towards the Balkans and Eastern Europe. We will continue to promote regional cooperation and the reunification of the Western Balkans with the European Union, in line with our political vision of a stronger and more united Europe.
The event was hosted by CEI Secretary General. Hon. Franco Dal Mas. While highlighting the Organisation's pivotal role in fostering dialogue and integration among Member States and outlining the priorities on the CEI’s agenda, such as support for EU enlargement, sustainable development and cross-border connectivity projects, and continued support for Ukraine, he underlined that:
The CEI serves not only as a reference point for regional cooperation but also as a concrete instrument for peace, development, and the European perspective of the Balkans.
This gathering was attended by numerous local authorities, institutional representatives, also from the political and economic sectors, which reflects the significance of the event for the region and for international dialogue.
