Migrants: Frontex intervention on Lithuania-Belarus border

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 12 LUG - Frontex executive director Fabrice Leggeri has agreed to launch a rapid intervention at Lithuania's borders with Belarus to support the growing migratory pressure, following an official request for aid submitted last Saturday by the Lithuanian authorities. The EU's Agency reported through a statement. "The situation on the border between Lithuania and Belarus remains worrisome," said Leggeri. "We will strengthen our assistance and send additional border guards, patrol cars, and specialized personnel to conduct interviews with migrants and gather information on the criminal networks involved. That's European solidarity in action," he added. (ANSA).
